Save the Gatineau!

E-mail Print PDF

As if expropriation and industrial developments weren't enough, the region is facing the threat of pollution of the pristine waters of the Gatineau river through a sewage treatment plant.

A rally is planned for Saturday March 12th at the Black Sheep Inn from 1-3 pm. Check out this site for details:

Is Wakefield ready for a 100-acre industrial park?

Is there a better location? Can La Peche citizens afford the multi-million dollar pricetag? Will it sit empty for years like the one outside of Gatineau at Hautes Plaines? What is the status of the long-awaited PPU?  Here are two opportunities to voice your concerns and get answers.

- August 16 at 7:00pm at Vorlage: Change of Zoning west of 105 to allow an Industrial Park

- August 25 at 7:00pm at Salle Desjardins La Peche Sports Complex: Mayor and Council unveil plans for Industrial Park

Who are we and why are we here?

If you are just joining us, you are likely here to get information regarding the sewage treatment plant and the municipality's plans for expropriating the Minnes farm, site of the Eco-Echo Environmental Campus, in order to build a 100 acre industrial park.

A group of La Pêche residents, frustrated with the lack of transparency and information available regarding these projects, have formed a grassroots organization under the moniker of Eco-La Pêche. We wish to firstly inform our fellow residents of La Pêche as to what is actually going on, and organize interested residents in order to closely monitor what happens in relation to these projects.

Through this website, we've attempted to present the facts relating to the industrial park without bias, as we hope you will all form your own opinion on these matters.
